Reminder: Great Film Directors First Day Ceremony & Free Movie Screening Tomorrow!

Don’t forget: Tomorrow the First Day of Issue ceremony for the Great Film Directors stamps will be held at the AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center in Silver Spring, MD. The ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will start at 10 a.m.

Local arts and entertainment critic Arch Campbell will be the master of ceremonies. Speakers include Jean Picker Firstenberg, President Emerita of the American Film Institute and Chair of the Citizens’ Stamp Advisory Committee, USPS; and Bernard Cook, Associate Dean and Director of Film and Media Studies, Georgetown College, Georgetown University.

But that’s not all. Immediately following the ceremony, there will be a free screening of Billy Wilder’s The Apartment. And we’ll be live-tweeting the whole thing! Follow us @USPSstamps or #FilmDirectors.
